Chris, Kirsten Wiltshire's Century 21 added to Lion's jersey sponsors . . .

Lion's sponsors are all in for 2024/25 . . .

Monday, Sept. 10th - South Dundas' favourite Hockey team, Morrisburg's Junior Lions, covered a milestone and then some on Monday evening while gathering for a photo event to highlight a growing list of sponsors. On offer for photos was the Lion's recently renovated dressing room on the arena's main floor lobby. Emblazoned with the team's brilliant yellow striping the deep blue walls are securing recently installed dressing cubicles identified for each of the team players. There is also a large screen display centred over the viewing area for game and individual play reviews between periods, a newly furnished office area, and more.

General Manager Kevin Casselman announced the new layout of the land with the Lions, and spoke of the possibilities in the final selection of players who would be relied upon to build on last season's 2023/24 Lion's Pride.

"We've expanded our ownership group," announced Casselman, introducing Jaime Smith and Matt Thompson holding integral responsibilities as owners.

"Our team earned and received great respect from the fans last season," Casselman said, adding, "And with the recent interest from our community concerning sponsors, working successfully with the municipality in building this spectacular dressing room, and bringing on an expanded ownership group, fan requests for season's tickets this year it appears our season is going to be exciting."

Casselman then introduced Chris and Kirsten Wiltshire who own the local "Century 21 - River's Edge" real estate franchise, and who are the most recent sponsors picking up the cost of being included on the team sweaters. Morrisburg's Canadian Tire is included in the sweater sponsorship group.

On Saturday, Sept. 14th at 1:00 p.m. the Lions will host the North Dundas Rockets in the first of back-to-back pre-season games, this one being staged at Morrisburg Arena. A second game will be played at Winchester Arena.

South Dundas' favourite Junior C hockey team is just two weeks away from opening their 2024/25 home ice campaign, a game between Morrisburg's Lions and the Almonte Inferno at Morrisburg Arena, Sat., Sept. 21st at 7:15 p.m.

The Lions are well into preparedness, choosing Ben Lapier as the team's Captain for the upcoming season, Jamie Smith and a host of hockey talents to round out a coaching staff, new faces and involvement in the General Manager's duties and more. To date there are few announcements concerning additions to or changes to the team line-up although General Manager Kevin Casselman, speaking on behalf of his crew, has said "Coming soon . . . !"

Members of the Junior Lions management team have too been grinding the community to accommodate the participation of local businesses, signing Chris Wiltshire's River's Edge Century 21 as sponsors of the Lion's travelling team while Steve and Jamie Dempsey's Canadian Tire backed the home colours. Earlier this week Morrisburg Family Chiropractic picked up the sponsorship of the Lion's Power Play, sharing that promotion with the local numbers firm, Smail Accounting.

Game announcer Jason Broad will credit the two sponsors when with of the participating teams score a power-play goal.
